Yes, our premises and home are built with STRAW, rendered in earth.
Chocolate Mill is a vision that has taken four years to eventuate.
We take great pride in calling ourselves "The Owner and The Builder". Chris worked on the house fulltime and Jen on weekends and at night.
We wanted to not only make great chocolate but also to be environmentally friendly as well. So this involved planning from the ground up- literally! From designing the building, sourcing an estimated 70% of recycled materials, learning valuable problem-solving skills and knowing every bale personally.
The site preparation of the Chocolate Mill project started in January 2001. The frame went up and building started in Febuary 2002 and officially ended in September 2003 when Jen and Chris moved in.
